This year’s theme: The Power of the Feminine
Now in its third year, the Twisted Oyster Film Festival leads the way in search of works that push the boundaries of content and narrative with a mission to bridge culture, society and technology. For 2017, we seek to highlight women/female creators, directors and artists from all over the world, whose works are meaningful, innovative and go in tandem with our times.
Audience Awards are given in five categories:

Documentary
Experimental
Animation
Fiction
Giving back:
1. Last year we started an outreach program inviting young artists to experience and learn about video art. This year we seek to do the same and more!
2. For 2017 TOFF seeks local Chicago video/new media artists and filmmakers for an in depth conversation/presentation of what it means to be a woman today and how we intersect society, culture and technology (details to follow in website).
3. We donate to WINGS and Women Employed
4. We give tickets to students
General Submission Guidelines:
We seek works by women or trans women.
Shorts: Under 20 minutes with a minimum of 5 minutes in length.
Feature: Over 40 minutes with a maximum of 90 minutes in length.
Film Categories: Adventure, animation documentary, experimental, multimedia, new media, short, feature.
Film Genre: Animation, art, culture, deconstruction, documentary, fantasy, film noir, LGBTQ, magical realism, microcinema, neo-noir, post modern, sci-fi, social issues, thriller and underground.
Created between 2014 and 2017 (Works in progress will not be accepted)
One movie per submission
Moving images: NTSC, .MOV, .MP4, H.264
All submissions must include all of the following as a single Word document/PDF:
-Name of artist, director and/or producer
-Full contact information (address, phone, email, website)
-Title of work, date of production, running time
-Direct web link to preview (download) film or video project online (we will only download selected works)
-Project Synopsis (250 words maximum)
-Brief biography of the artist/director (150 words maximum)
-Screening history, achievements and awards

Eligibility
Open to female film/new media/video artists and filmmakers in the U.S. and abroad, ages 21 or over and who identify with the pronoun she/her. Works may be representational, abstract, non-representational or conceptual.
Curator
Pía Cruzalegui is a Chicago based artist and independent curator. During her residency in the Zhou Brothers Art Center she developed the first Media and Performance Art Room and the first edition of TOFF. Presently, she organizes and curates the Twisted Oyster Film Festival, UnLock Hause and Kinetic Art Projects with a mission to provide artists and community a space for conversation and engagement.

Early Bird (through Aug 1) – $15.00
Regular Deadline (through Sept 22) – $20.00
Late Deadline (through Sept 30) – $25.00

Selected works will be screened October 14-15, 2017 and October 20-22, 2017
Liability
Video, digital, new media or film works will not be insured by Kinetic Projects or its affiliates. If this changes, this clause will be updated. All precautions will be made to handle and secure the work while in our care. Shipping insurance to and from the gallery will be the responsibility of the artist.
Conditions
Your submission grants the following: 1) Permission to use digital images sent by the artist for publicity, catalog, promotional and/or educational purposes. 2) Placement of digital images on our website unless written notification is given to the curators before exhibit opening. 3) Agrees with all the terms and conditions listed above. 4) Releases Twisted Oyster Film Festival and its affiliates of any lost or damage of digital works.
